Ramayana has set its sights on China as part of its theatrical rollout, adding a major international dimension to Nitesh Tiwari’s epic just as the makers lock July 24 for its worldwide trailer launch. Led by Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, the film is being positioned as a global event well before its Diwali 2026 release.
That bigger play is consistent with the scale already attached to the project. Backed by Namit Malhotra, with Yash also serving as co-producer, Ramayana has steadily built momentum as one of the most closely watched Hindi films currently in production.
China Release Plan Gains Attention Ahead Of Trailer Launch
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that the makers are planning a China theatrical release for Ramayana as part of the film’s international strategy. The move places fresh focus on how aggressively the team is taking the film beyond the domestic market as the campaign gears up for its next big reveal.
In an official announcement for the trailer launch, the makers said, “For thousands of years, the Ramayana has inspired generations through its timeless ideals of dharma, maryada, courage and compassion. Now, it begins a new journey. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisational epics, presented to the world, at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema.”
The statement concluded with a clear confirmation on the next milestone: “The Ramayana trailer premieres worldwide on 24th July.”
The China release plan aligns with the makers’ own global positioning of the film and strengthens the sense that Ramayana is being mounted as a cross-border theatrical event. That ambition is also reflected in the film’s creative packaging, with Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman onboard for the music and a cast that extends beyond the central trio to include Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey.
Nitesh Tiwari’s Epic Carries Scale On Screen And Behind It
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and written by Shridhar Raghavan, Ramayana is being mounted by Monster Mind Creations and Prime Focus Studios. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Sunny Deol playing Hanuman and Ravie Dubey cast as Lakshman.
The story draws from the ancient Indian epic and follows Rama and Sita as their exile sets in motion a clash between dharma and adharma. The first part is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Recent And Upcoming Work
That global rollout matters for Ranbir Kapoor as much as it does for the film itself. After the 2023 releases Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal, Kapoor now stands at the centre of a mythological tentpole designed for event-level theatrical reach, making Ramayana one of the defining titles of his current phase.
His next confirmed theatrical release is Ramayana in 2026, followed by Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in 2027. Coming after Animal reinforced his box office pull and broadened his mass appeal, the scale and international push behind Ramayana gives this project added weight within his evolving screen image.
