Actress Ameesha Patel turned herself in at the Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday after being accused of cheating film producer-businessman Ajay Kumar Singh in a cheque bounce case involving Rs 3 crore. As per an ANI report, Ajay alleged that Ameesha had borrowed Rs 2.5 crore from him, citing the production of a film named Desi Magic, but neither fulfilled the project nor returned the borrowed funds. Additionally, Ameesha’s business partner, Krunal Goomer, was also implicated in the case.
Back in 2018, Ameesha Patel faced allegations related to an incident that took place during her visit to Ranchi for an event held at Harmu Ground. It was during this visit that she met Ajay Kumar Singh and convinced him to invest a sum of Rs 2.5 crore in her film Desi Magic. However, according to Ajay’s complaint, both Ameesha and Krunal failed to complete the film’s production as promised, and they also reneged on their commitment to repay the borrowed amount, along with an additional interest of Rs 50 lakh.
To address the matter, in October 2018, Ameesha issued two cheques to Ajay, one for the principal amount of Rs 2.5 crore and another for the interest of Rs 50 lakh. Unfortunately, both cheques were dishonored, leading Ajay to take legal recourse.
Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel found herself facing allegations of cheating and money laundering lodged by Ajay Kumar Singh. In response, Ajay took legal action, resulting in the issuance of a warrant against Ameesha on April 6. Taking cognizance of the situation, Ameesha voluntarily surrendered at the Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday morning in relation to the case involving bounced cheques. Following her surrender, she was granted bail under certain conditions, with the court instructing her to personally appear for the proceedings on June 21.
