There’s sudden burst of mythological films in Indian film industry, after the success of magnum opus, Baahubali. Several big budget projects are being planned based on Ramayana and Mahabharata like – Om Raut’s Adipurush starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon and Draupadi starring Deepika Padukone. There are reports that Hrithik Roshan and Mahesh Babu will star in Madhu Mantena’s retelling of Ramayana.
Now, there are reports of another big-scale mythological film, titled Sita, where the story of Ramayana will be told from Ma Sita’s perspective. The film is being written and conceptualised by Baahubali writer, KV Vijayendra Prasad. While Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are in contention for the titular role, we have now learnt that Ranveer Singh has been approached to play Ravana in the film.
A source revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “Sita will be mounted on a huge scale and the magnitude of the film will be as big as a Baahubali. While it’s a toss-up between Kareena and Alia for the main role, the makers (director Alaukik Desai) have approached Ranveer Singh to play Ravana. Yes, if this happens, it might be the first ever film that Ranveer and Kareena will be doing together. They were supposed to do Ram Leela but it didn’t work out. From what we know, both Bebo and Ranveer have loved their parts and are waiting for the final narration to give a go ahead to the project.”
It was earlier reported that Kareena Kapoor Khan was also considering the role of Sita in Madhu Mantena ‘s adaptation of the epic Ramayana, where Mahesh Babu and Hrithik Roshan were casted as Lord Ram and Ravan respectively. There was previously talk of Deepika Padukone also being considered for the role of Sita in the same film.
