Bollywood’s closely watched casting storm around Don 3 has now moved from industry whispers to formal action. On Monday, May 25, 2026, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh amid his dispute with Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment over the actor’s exit from the film.
Fwice Issues Non-Cooperation Directive
The film workers’ body has banned Ranveer Singh and instructed the industry not to collaborate with him until the dispute is resolved. The decision follows a complaint from Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, over pre-production losses connected to Don 3. The makers have sought damages, with the demand linked to costs incurred after the film was planned with Singh in the lead.
The dispute intensified after Singh exited Don 3 close to its planned shoot. The film, directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment, had been positioned as a major new chapter in the franchise after Don and Don 2. Singh was announced as the new face of the title role, taking the franchise into a fresh phase after Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier films.
What Fwice Said About The Don 3 Row
FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit had strongly criticised the practice of actors walking out of films at the last stage. In an earlier interview, he said, “It’s a very serious matter, and this trend is very wrong. You can’t withdraw from a project 10 days before the shoot starts. We are having an internal meeting first, and then we are taking a call.”
Asked what the federation’s decision could be, Pandit added, “We will do something which is justified now. We will not allow the industry to be doomed here. Tomorrow, anybody can walk out of the movie. Whatever we will do, we will do it in the interest of the industry.”
Farhan Akhtar had also addressed the uncertainty around the film in an earlier interview. He said, “A lot has happened over the last couple of years. You learn to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted till you actually have it on film.”
Ranveer Singh’s Recent And Upcoming Work
Ranveer Singh’s recent screen run has been eventful. He starred opposite Alia Bhatt in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023, returning to the romantic family entertainer space. In 2024, he reprised ACP Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
He then led Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar in 2025 and appeared in its follow-up, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, in 2026, alongside Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt, Manav Gohil and Gaurav Gera. On OTT, he appeared as himself in Netflix’s The Ba*ds of Bollywood in 2025.
Among announced projects, his untitled film with Shankar remains listed, while Don 3 now stands at the centre of a major industry dispute.
