Barkha Bisht has spent years on Television with shows like Kya Mast Hai Zindagi, Naamkaran and Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman. While TV has been her main space, she has also appeared in Bollywood films in supporting roles. One of her most memorable experiences was working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2013 epic, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Barkha Bisht On SLB’s Dedication
In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Barkha shared insights from her time on the Ram-Leela set. Known for his grandeur and attention to detail, Bhansali is famous for demanding nothing less than perfection from his actors.
Barkha revealed that the filmmaker had a reputation for losing his temper when things didn’t go his way, but she personally never had to face it. However, she did see others deal with it.
On Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone
Barkha recalled that even though she was confident in her craft, Ram-Leela pushed her to the limit. Used to delivering scenes in a single take for TV, she found herself needing 16 takes on Bhansali’s set. This made her nervous about her performance, but Ranveer quickly reassured her.
Barkha revealed, “He told me, ‘You’re good. I’ve given 30 takes, and Deepika has done 50.” She admitted that the intense filming process was overwhelming, but also a learning experience.
Ranveer Singh is known for his infectious energy, but according to Barkha, he also had a calm and collected side. While some people witnessed him getting frustrated on set, she felt lucky to have been on his good side. She said, “Even when things got chaotic, he had this way of bringing everyone together and making them feel comfortable.”
During filming breaks, Barkha and Ranveer would chat about their lives and families. However, despite being part of the same film, she never got the chance to shoot with Deepika.

Set in the fictional town of Ranjaar, Gujarat, it tells the passionate love story of Ram (Ranveer) and Leela (Deepika), whose families were bitter enemies. The film, known for its opulent sets, dramatic storytelling, and hit soundtrack, became a massive success at the box office.
