Ranveer Singh’s Pralay To Begin Filming In August Despite Fwice Non-Cooperation Directive

Ranveer Singh’s next big screen swing is gathering heat at a turbulent moment in his professional calendar. Even as the actor faces a non-cooperation directive from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, his ambitious genre film Pralay is moving forward, with production planned to begin in August 2026.

The development comes amid the continuing fallout from Ranveer’s exit from Don 3, the Farhan Akhtar directorial that had positioned him as the new face of the franchise. Following his departure, Excel Entertainment approached industry bodies over losses linked to the disruption of the film’s pre-production work and sought Rs 45 crore in compensation.

Pralay Filming Stays On Course

FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh on May 25, 2026, after claiming that the actor did not respond to multiple notices asking him to appear before the body and present his side. The move drew industry attention because of the scale of action taken against a leading star.

For now, the film’s production machinery remains unaffected. An insider connected to the development said, “Everything is in order and running as planned. FWICE’s unlawful directive has had no impact on the film whatsoever. Pralay will go on floors in August.”

The makers of Pralay have not issued an official public statement on the FWICE matter. Ranveer has also stayed away from making a detailed public comment on the controversy. Earlier, his team had said that professional discussions and personal matters should be handled with “dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”

Pralay Brings Ranveer Singh Into A Rare Zombie Thriller Space

Pralay is being mounted as a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller set in a devastated Mumbai. The film builds its world around a crumbling cityscape, survival, social breakdown, and the chaos of a zombie outbreak, giving Hindi cinema a large-scale genre experiment that sits far away from routine action dramas.

The film is directed by Jai Mehta, son of filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Jai previously co-directed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story and directed episodes of Lootere. With Pralay, he moves into theatrical feature filmmaking on a bigger canvas. IMDb lists Ranveer Singh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Resad Ajim among the cast, with the project currently in pre-production.

Ranveer Singh’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Ranveer’s recent film run has covered both leading roles and franchise appearances. After Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Cirkus in 2022, he returned to the romantic family entertainer space with Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023 opposite Alia Bhatt. In 2024, he reprised Simmba in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.

His later theatrical credits included Aditya Dhar’s action thriller Dhurandhar in 2025 and Dhurandhar: The Revenge in 2026, both past releases as of May 2026. On the upcoming front, Pralay stands as his key confirmed theatrical project, marking a sharp genre shift into survival horror after a phase dominated by franchise appearances, romance, and action.
