Ranveer Singh Set To Start Pralay Next Month As Zombie Thriller Locks First Schedule

Ranveer Singh is gearing up for a sharp genre turn. The actor is expected to begin shooting Pralay next month, with the film’s first schedule set to continue until around Diwali before production pauses for a longer break. That timeline has quickly put the project in focus, especially because Pralay is being mounted as a zombie thriller, a genre still rare in mainstream Hindi cinema.

The film is directed by Jai Mehta, and its screenplay has been co-written by Jai Mehta and Vishal Kapoor, whose credits include Lootere. While the makers have kept plot specifics tightly under wraps, the genre tag alone has made Pralay one of the more intriguing titles on Ranveer’s slate right now.

First Schedule To Begin Next Month

The latest update is that Pralay will go on floors next month, with the first leg of filming planned through the festive season. After that, production is expected to pause and resume in 2027.

The same update says Ranveer Singh will take paternity leave after the birth of his second child with Deepika Padukone, which explains the break built into the schedule. Neither the actor nor the makers have publicly confirmed the timeline, but the production plan outlined for the first schedule gives the project a clear near-term movement.

For Ranveer, Pralay also signals a fresh screen space. He has spent the last few years balancing romance, action, and franchise-driven commercial cinema, so stepping into a zombie thriller gives his next move a different edge. In an industry where horror comedies have surged but straight zombie narratives remain largely untapped, Pralay arrives with instant curiosity value.

Ranveer Singh’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Ranveer Singh’s most recent confirmed theatrical releases include Dhurandhar in 2025 and Dhurandhar: The Revenge in 2026. Before that, he featured in Singham Again in 2024, reprising ACP Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, and headlined Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023 opposite Alia Bhatt, directed by Karan Johar.

That stretch reflects a star in transition. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani brought him back into a broadly loved mainstream space, while the Dhurandhar films pushed him toward large-scale action spectacle. As of July 2026, Pralay stands out as a confirmed next-step project because it combines scale with a less familiar genre template.

Search-verified filmography listings also place Pralay among the announced titles linked to Ranveer’s immediate future lineup. With the first schedule now lined up for next month, the film has moved beyond announcement chatter and into a more concrete production phase, making it one of the actor’s most closely watched projects at the moment.
