Real Life Hero: Arjun Kapoor Vows To Sponsor 11-Year-Old Cricketer’s Dream Of Playing For India

With the Women's Premier League of India ranking as the second most expensive women's sports league globally, Anisha has the opportunity to dream with her eyes open.

Arjun Kapoor is making a charitable gesture by sponsoring the sports dreams of a young girl. In India, where cricket is a religion, thousands of girls aspire to become professional cricketers. With the recent success of Indian women’s cricket, young girls like Anisha Rout, who is only 11 years old, are inspired to pursue their ambition of emulating their hero, Sachin Tendulkar, and becoming professional players.

Anisha travels 80 kilometers a day, seven times a week, for eight hours of cricket training as she works towards her goal. Her father, Prabhat, who is a supervisor, is doing everything in his power to support her, but he needs assistance to provide her with the best facilities and equipment to help her play for India. Arjun Kapoor, known for his philanthropy, has stepped forward to sponsor all of Anisha’s equipment costs until she turns 18.

“As parents, we want the best for our child but training to become a world-class cricketer is expensive. Anisha wants to earn the India cap and bring glory to our country like Sachin Tendulkar. As a father, I need to empower her so that she can try to do that and become an inspiration for others like her for generations to come. This help from Arjun Kapoor is a godsend. It takes a lot of load off my shoulders and I can’t thank him enough. It is important for Anisha to get the best equipment as a cricketer and now she will have everything till she turns 18!” Prabhat stated.

Anisha, who resides in Panvel, Maharashtra, dedicates eight hours a day to pursuing her cricket dream. Her inspiration came from watching the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, and at the young age of 10, she played Under-15 Women’s Cricket for Raigad District, Maharashtra, scoring three half-centuries in her previous matches. Currently, she opens the batting for MIG Club under 15. With the Women’s Premier League of India ranking as the second most expensive women’s sports league globally, Anisha has the opportunity to dream with her eyes open.
