On Friday evening, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan went before the NCB’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is investigating the drugs-on-cruise case, and his statement was recorded for hours, according to sources. Aryan had gone to the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Ballard Estate office in south Mumbai earlier in the day to mark his weekly attendance as ordered by the Bombay High Court when it granted him bail last month.
Later, he appeared before a SIT led by NCB Deputy Director General Sanjay Kumar Singh in Navi Mumbai, where he was questioned from early evening till nearly midnight, according to sources.
Aryan was questioned at the RAF office in Navi Mumbai, according to reliable sources. Aryan travelled to Navi Mumbai after leaving the Zonal office for his court-ordered appearance. Aryan was questioned about the circumstances under which he boarded the ship, his connections to drug suppliers, and his social group’s drug-related habits and preferences, according to sources.
Gyaneshwar Singh, NCB DDG said: “Our investigation is on and we are giving it the highest priority…we want to conclude it at the earliest. We are yet to include some key people into the investigation.”
Aryan is also alleged to have been questioned about the conditions under which the previous inquiry team, led by unpopular zonal chief Sameer Wankhede, probed him, as well as how he was treated in jail in order to determine whether he or his family were forced to pay a bribe. Details about Aryan’s strategy, how he learned about the trip, and his travel route were among the SIT’s inquiries for him. Also, if he intended to do drugs on board the ship or if the drugs were delivered. According to sources, Aryan was also given the option of dismissing all drug-related allegations, as his lawyers did in court while seeking for his bail. During the raid, no contraband was discovered on Aryan’s person, according to records.
