Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala has set the stage for an exciting cinematic venture, revealing that Ahan Shetty and Pooja Hegde will headline his upcoming feature film. The much-anticipated project, helmed by Adnan Shaikh and Yasir Jah, has been titled Sanki.
Amidst speculation that Sanki is a remake of the Tamil hit Adanga Maru, starring Jayam Ravi, insiders have uncovered an intriguing twist. Contrary to popular belief, the film is not a remake but an original romantic saga penned by Sajid Nadiadwala himself.
Sajid Nadiadwala’s Thoughts On Adanga Maru Hindi Remake
A source close to the production shed light on the film’s genesis and told Bollywood Hungama, “Sajid Nadiadwala initially toyed with the idea of adapting Adanga Maru for the Hindi audience, with Varun Dhawan in the lead and Anurag Singh in the director’s chair. However, the landscape shifted in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting Varun Dhawan to stay away from remakes. Undeterred, Sajid recognised the inherent potential of Adanga Maru in the Hindi market and decided to craft an original narrative tailored for Bollywood sensibilities.”
The source further elaborated, “The script holds a special place in Sajid’s creative arsenal, and he is committed to bringing it to life on the silver screen. While Sanki marks the beginning of a fresh cinematic journey, Sajid envisions revisiting Adanga Maru in 2025 with a brand-new cast, ensuring that its essence resonates with audiences seeking compelling storytelling.”
Sanki Has Nothing To Do With What Was Planned Earlier
The movie originally planned as Sanki with Varun Dhawan was different from the current project. Now, Sajid Nadiadwala is working on a new Sanki, unrelated to the previous concept. Preparations are in full swing, aiming for a shooting start in June 2024. Sajid Nadiadwala is determined to release the film as a Valentine’s Day treat in 2025, with a tight two-month shooting schedule from start to finish.
Ahan Shetty, who will portray a complex character in this action-packed film, is currently undergoing training. While he gears up for his role, the casting process for other key roles in Sanki goes on.
