Riteish Deshmukh brought an unexpectedly tense moment to the otherwise glitzy launch of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa season 2 when he firmly shut down a question involving Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The actor, who is co-hosting the new season with Farah Khan, was asked if he would invite his two close friends on the show because of their real-life past troubles. Riteish’s response was immediate, sharp, and impossible to miss.
At the event, the question was put to him as, “Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are your closest friends. Both have a lot of experience of lock up. So, would you like to get them in Netflix’s Lock Upp? And how would you punish them?” Riteish made it clear that he found the line of questioning distasteful.

Without softening his words, Riteish replied, “Sabse pehle mujhe nahin lagta hai ki aapke sawal ka jawab deke main usko koi dignity dena chahunga.” It was a rare moment of visible anger from the actor, who is usually known for his easygoing public persona.
When pressed again on whether he would still like to invite Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, he stayed just as firm and said, “I’ll not bring them as my duty is to host. And as a host, I don’t know about the inmates that would appear on the show. Jo bhi guests aate hai Lock Upp mein, unse hum baat karte hai.”
The exchange quickly became the standout moment from the launch, especially as anticipation is already high for the new season. The show premieres on Netflix on June 27, 2026, and the platform is clearly leaning into the chemistry between its two hosts. Speaking at the same event, Monika Shergill said, “Agar kisi jail mein jaana hi pade, toh mujhe lagta hai ki Farah Khan aur Riteish Deshmukh se entertaining jailers aur kahin nahin milenge! Farah se kuch bhi chhupana mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai. She always speaks her mind. As for Ritiesh, he’ll make you smile and then nicely take your case! Yet, you’ll never feel bad about it. Their chemistry, humour and devilish charm are sure to spice things up in Lock Upp.”
