RRR Tickets Sold Out At LA’s Chinese Theatre In Just 98 Seconds; SS Rajamouli Bags ‘Best Director’ Award At New York Film Critics Circle

SS Rajamouli has bagged the Best Director Award at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC)

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is creating history with his blockbuster film RRR. The film and its team are making headlines since its release. Now, SS Rajamouli has bagged the Best Director Award at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC). He attended the award show with his wife Rama Rajamouli, son SS Karthikeya, and other family members.

By accepting the prestigious award, he mentioned that ‘cinema is like a temple.’ He further added, “With RRR, I saw the same kind of reception in the West. They were reacting the same way that Indians did.” As part of an initiative by Beyond Fest, RRR will be screened again at Las Angeles’s Chinese Theatre which is the world’s biggest IMAX theatre. The craze of the film is that, all the tickets sold out in just 98 seconds!

Yes, The official handle of Beyond Fest took to Twitter to share the news and called it “historic”. The tweet read, “It’s official and it’s historic. @RRRMovie sold out the @ChineseTheatres @IMAX in 98 seconds. There has never been a screening like this of an Indian film before because there has never been a film like RRR before. Thank you @ssrajamouli @tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan @mmkeeravaani.”


The RRR team also shared a pic of SS Rajamouli from the NYFCC Award ceremony and tweeted, “Congratulations @ssrajamouli@nyfcc. You made us proud. Salute Captain.”

RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, is a fictitious story based on two legendary freedom fighters – Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. The film, which also features Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody and Ray Stevenson, was released on 24 March 2022.
