Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary Records Solid India Run, Collects Rs 12.25 Crore Gross In 3 Days

Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary is gaining serious traction in India, and the weekend numbers make that impossible to miss. After opening with Rs 3 crore and moving to Rs 3.5 crore on Friday, the sci-fi drama leapt to Rs 5.75 crore on Saturday, taking its three-day India gross to Rs 12.25 crore and cementing its place as one of the strongest recent Hollywood originals in the market.

What stands out is not just the total, but the shape of the run. Rather than peaking early, the film has built steadily through audience response, with premium format demand and urban multiplex footfalls pushing it higher as the weekend progressed. For a large-scale original science-fiction title, that kind of growth signals genuine engagement rather than front-loaded curiosity.

Why The Saturday Jump Changes The Conversation

The Saturday rise gave Project Hail Mary exactly the kind of momentum that can transform a good opening into a sustained theatrical performer. Its Day 3 figure came in about 40 per cent higher than Friday and roughly 47 per cent above the opening day, showing that word of mouth is now doing the heavy lifting.

That day-on-day pattern matters because original Hollywood films in India often depend on quick audience endorsement to extend their run beyond the first couple of days. In this case, the film’s emotional hook, scale, and premium-screen appeal appear to be working together. The gains suggest viewers are not merely sampling the film, they are actively driving its weekend growth.

That rising Indian response also fits neatly into the film’s larger global momentum. As it strengthened locally, Project Hail Mary had already crossed USD 223.2 million worldwide, with domestic markets contributing USD 124.5 million and overseas territories adding USD 98.7 million. The India trend therefore feels less like an isolated spike and more like part of a broader international embrace.

A Survival Epic With Mainstream Pull

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Project Hail Mary stars Gosling in a science-fiction adventure adapted from Andy Weir’s novel of the same name. The film blends high-concept space storytelling with a character-focused survival arc, giving it both scale and emotional accessibility for mainstream audiences.

The story follows a lone astronaut sent on a mission with enormous stakes for humanity. That mix of isolation, discovery, and urgency has helped the film connect beyond core sci-fi viewers, which also explains why its theatrical run is showing such encouraging traction.

Ryan Gosling’s Recent And Upcoming Work

That crossover appeal also says something important about Gosling’s current career phase. He has spent the last few years moving between globally visible studio projects and performance-driven films that still carry a strong commercial identity, making Project Hail Mary a natural fit in his recent trajectory.

In 2023, he starred in Barbie, where his turn as Ken became a major cultural phenomenon and helped power the film to blockbuster business worldwide. He followed that with The Fall Guy in 2024, the action comedy co-starring Emily Blunt and directed by David Leitch. With Project Hail Mary, Gosling has shifted into a more emotionally contained but still ambitious studio vehicle, one that reinforces his ability to front event films without relying on franchise familiarity.
