Salman Khan is gearing up for yet another high-octane patriotic drama, this time with Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming directorial Galwan.
The film, which is based on the popular book India’s Most Fearless, draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley battle and will feature Salman in an unprecedented avatar in the role of an Indian Army officer.
Lean Look, Military Precision: Salman Khan Begins Preparations for Galwan
A source back in August confirmed that Salman Khan would be changing his workout regimen for the movie.
“He would put aside his usual approach to achieve a leaner appearance, consistent with the appearance of an Army officer,” the source said, adding,
“He would also be having a crew cut in a military style, which will likely be featured in a look test scheduled in the early part of July.”
The word from the grapevine is that this look test could even be used as a way to formally announce the film. Salman is said to have committed the bulk of his schedule to the project and has made sure he can achieve the physicality of the character and respect the real-life context that Galwan is derived from, stated the source.
Galwan Shoot in Ladakh: 25 Days of Shooting There, Followed by Mumbai Schedule
The film is scheduled to start shooting in July 2025, beginning with an appropriate 25-day shoot in Ladakh that includes historic combat facilities and varying geography. After the Ladakh schedule, the team will transition to Mumbai for studio shoots and extended combat sequences.
The crew members at Salman Khan Films (SKF) and director Apoorva Lakhia (Shootout at Lokhandwala, Haseena Parkar) are already deep into pre-production.
New Cast: No In-House Talent, Only Credibility
Interestingly, the casting process is being taken very seriously, according to sources.
While Salman is the star of the film, three of the main characters will be cast with auditions, and none of these roles will be filled by in-house talent from SKF.
“The idea is to go with fresh performers who have credibility and bring credence to the subject matter,” the source said.
The ensemble cast should be announced in the near future.
What’s Next After Galwan? Kabir Khan and Salman Khan Return
According to reports, Salman is getting ready to reunite with Kabir Khan for a new original feature post-Galwan. The two have built a legacy with many box office smash hits like Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
The source affirmed,
“There’s a 90% likelihood this film will be a sequel to Galwan, though as far as story, it will be a standalone. Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 is still under consideration; however, both Salman and Kabir want to finish this standalone film first.”
Box Office Worldwide Verdict
In Galwan, Salman Khan is stepping beyond being an Army officer;
He’s putting on the boots of heroism, discipline, and accountability to the motherland.
Based on actual events with a rough and tough narrative, Apoorva Lakhia’s actioner promises to be one of the most grounded and gripping chronicles of Salman’s career in cinema.
