Will Salman Khan Portray A Braveheart From Galwan Clash In Apoorva Lakhia’s Next?

Salman Khan is in advanced talks for a high-impact war drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and rooted in real events from the best-selling book India’s Most Fearless 3.

A War Drama Of Mega Proportions Is Coming

According to various inside reports, Bollywood’s ageless superstar Salman Khan seems to be preparing for one of the more intense roles of his film career. It is reported that talks are well underway for him to headline a large-scale war drama directed by Shootout at Lokhandwala filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia. The movie is said to be based on actual events from the brutal real-life confrontation in Galwan Valley, when Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed in June 2020. The project was also inspired by the bestselling book India’s Most Fearless 3.

If the deal is closed, Salman Khan will portray the role of a commanding officer in a story of courage and sacrifice intertwined with one of the most emotional incidents in modern Indian military history. The film will dramatise the events of the fateful night of June 15, 2020, when 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in a hand-to-hand battle with Chinese troops in Eastern Ladakh.

The war film appears it will be a salute to India’s unsung heroes and represent a significant departure from Khan’s more recent trends in commercial entertainers.

Industry experts are stating that this film is likely to be steeped in realism, have action that is frenetic, and possess emotional weight—something Khan has rarely offered to the mainstream audience.

The BOW Angle: Big Bets, Bigger Canvas

The fact that the project is a possible game changer from a box office worldwide perspective. If box office historical examples hold true, a film with war themes is usually a box office hit with A-list talent. War movies in Bollywood like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Shershaah, and Border have all hit the public’s fancy and provided record collections. With Salman Khan as the draw in the film and Apoorva Lakhia’s proclivity for the darker aspects of storytelling, which are less sugar-coated and sanitised, trade analysts are already talking about it having a pan-India feel.

Post-Sikandar Move: Is There a Change in Strategy?

He is currently wrapping up AR Murugadoss’ action piece Sikandar (expected on Eid 2025) — Salman Khan appears to be manoeuvring for an opportunity to strategically pivot into the post-2025 space.

His inclination towards content-led storytelling that still appeals to mass audiences suggests a certain shift—especially in the aftermath of his last few underwhelming debuts: Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Antim.

Casting, Budget & Production Hype

Although the film is still in development news, the early buzz suggests it will be a huge production with possible defence consultants and war veterans being brought in for authenticity.

There have not been any official announcements attached to the supporting cast. However, names of young A-listers and story arcs based on real-life inspirations have been passed around in industry circles. Official announcements will come after the release of Sikandar.

Box-Office Worldwide Verdict

If the film is locked, it has the perfect storm of ingredients—a revival arc of a superstar, a patriotic story arc, a motion picture spectacle, and an emotional arc that should connect with Indian audiences. In addition to Bollywood’s growing reliance on realistic military dramas, Apoorva Lakhia’s war epic starring Salman Khan could very well be the next big offering that Bollywood delivers in 2026.
