Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Salman, Karan, Akshay, Vicky Among Celebs Cancelling Events, Offering Condolences

After the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, Salman Khan’s ISRL event was postponed. Events for Kannappa and Rana Naidu were also cancelled in solidarity with the victims.
On June 12, 2025, India awoke to devastating news — an Air India flight that had just departed from Ahmedabad to London crashed just after take-off, sending shockwaves throughout the country. For all of India and beyond, this was catastrophic news. Given the calamity of the situation, the entertainment industry collectively halted all activities. Salman Khan, event coordinators, and productions shut down or postponed several high-profile events in peaceful solidarity.

Salman Khan’s Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) Event Cancelled

Superstar Salman Khan was scheduled to fulfil a huge press event for the ISRL at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai, where he was to be introduced as brand ambassador. The press event was scheduled for 2pm, which coincided with initially reported information about the crash.

Organisers indicated approximately at 3:45pm that they would like to address the media, which resulted in them delaying the presser by 35 minutes. They stated:

“Earlier today, there was an tragic incident. So it is unfortunate as everyone is sad right now. ISRL, and Mr Salman Khan….united with the nation. We have made a responsible joint decision to postpone this event, and it is not a celebration time.”

The co-founders – Veer Patel and Eeshan Lokhande – were also joined by Salman for a fireside chat, but that will likely be rescheduled.

Kannappa Indore Event Cancelled – Media Notified After Plane Crash

A massive promotional plan for Kannappa was now called off. On June 13, a major promotional event planned for Kannappa in Indore was also scrapped in the wake of the tragic plane crash. The members of the Mumbai media that were to fly to Madhya Pradesh were informed of the cancellation later in the day, as the magnitude of the tragedy became clearer.

Kannappa with actor Vishnu Manchu was preparing for a large mid-year marketing blitz that will now be postponed with respect.

Rana Naidu Season 2 Premiere Cancelled

Netflix‘s highly anticipated premiere of Rana Naidu Season 2, scheduled at Chitra Cinema in Mumbai, was also cancelled.

The premiere was slated to have Rana Daggubati, Surveen Chawla, Arjun Rampal, Kriti Kharbanda, and Sushant Singh and was designed as a media-meets-fans event. After the plane crash, the creators of the show decided silence was the best course of action out of respect for the nation that was in mourning.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

Tragedy and cinema rarely mix — and rightfully so. The film industry wishes to emphasise empathy above entertainment, with people like Salman Khan shelving major releases and film events like Kannappa and Rana Naidu cancelled. This is a monumental act in solidarity when innocent lives have been lost in India. And like so many other events, silence is expected in a sombre state and will say more than any celebration.
