Salman Khan’s Raj And Dk Superhero Film To Go On Floors In October 2026, Samantha Ruth Prabhu Not Part Of Cast

Salman Khan stepping into the superhero genre is the kind of move that instantly changes the temperature around a project. For a star long associated with larger-than-life mass entertainers, this film gives him a fresh screen image, which is precisely why the Raj and DK collaboration has been generating such strong industry chatter. The latest update now gives that ambition a concrete shape, with the film moving steadily toward its shoot window.

The superhero film is being lined up to go on floors in October 2026. The team is currently immersed in pre-production, with work underway on the film’s visual world and larger action design. Amid the casting buzz surrounding the project, one major point has also been clarified. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is not part of the cast, and the search for the female lead is still ongoing.

October 2026 Shoot Plan Takes Shape

According to sources, the makers are currently in the pre-production stage, locking the scale, look, and technical aspects of the film. “It’s a big-budget superhero film designed for a global audience. The team is aiming to begin filming by October 2026, once all pre-visualisation and prep work is in place,” a source shared.

Contrary to ongoing rumours, Samantha is not part of the film. “The reports of Samantha being cast are completely untrue. The makers are still exploring options and will finalize the female lead in the next couple of months,” the source clarified.

The project is being mounted as a large-scale theatrical entertainer, and the current phase is focused on building the film’s technical and creative foundation before cameras roll. That includes extensive planning around the action format and pre-visualisation, which is key for a genre outing of this scale.

The clarification around Samantha’s casting is equally significant because speculation had begun to gather pace in recent days. As of now, the makers have not locked the female lead, and that decision is expected to be taken only after the ongoing development work reaches a more advanced stage.

Inside The Superhero Project Taking Shape

What makes this collaboration especially intriguing is the creative contrast at its center. Salman Khan’s star power has traditionally thrived in broad, crowd-pleasing action spectacles, while Raj and DK have built a distinct space with genre-driven storytelling, tonal flair, and edgy mainstream writing. That blend gives the film an identity beyond routine star casting.

The makers are keeping the premise tightly under wraps, and no official title or character details have been revealed yet. At this stage, the secrecy itself is adding to the curiosity, particularly because Hindi cinema has seen relatively few genuinely big-ticket superhero attempts fronted by established superstars. The film also fits into a wider recalibration in Salman’s lineup, where scale and creative reinvention are beginning to move hand in hand.

Salman Khan Builds A New Big-Screen Phase

Salman was last seen in the 2023 theatrical release Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-starring Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. In 2024, he also appeared in the documentary series Angry Young Men on Prime Video, which revisited the legacy of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.

What now appears clear is that Salman is shaping a new run built around ambitious theatrical plays. Alongside the Raj and DK superhero film, he is also attached to an untitled action feature directed by Vamshi Paidipally and co-starring Nayanthara. Backed by Sri Venkateswara Creations and presented by Dil Raju, that film is slated for an Eid 2027 theatrical release, reinforcing the sense that Salman is assembling a fresh phase driven by scale, reinvention, and high-visibility collaborations.
