The Mumbai crime branch despatched a team to Delhi on Wednesday to question mobster Lawrence Bishnoi about the threat letter written to Salim Khan and his son, Bollywood actor Salman Khan. While the Bandra police are investigating the case, the crime branch is conducting its own investigation.
The note found in Bandra mentioned, “Salim Khan, Salman Khan Bahot Jald Aapka Moosewala Hoga G.B L.B… (Salim Khan, Salman Khan, very soon you will meet Moosewala’s fate.)” It is speculated that G.B. and L.B. may refer to gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi.
A senior officer said, “While we are not sure that the threat letter was sent by the gangsters, we do not want to leave any possibility unexplored. Hence we have sent a team to Delhi to question Bishnoi, who is in the custody of Delhi police.”
Bishnoi was apprehended by the Delhi police in connection with an earlier case of supplying weaponry to other gangs. According to a source, they hope to question Bishnoi alongside the Delhi police team.
Bishnoi’s name first surfaced in connection with the May 29 murder of Punjabi artist Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa district by unidentified gunmen. According to Punjab police, the homicide was carried out at the request of Bishnoi and his Canadian partner Goldie Brar.
The Mumbai Police have so far recorded Salman and Salim Khan’s statements and increased security around the actor’s home in suburban Bandra as part of their investigation. The police also took the statements of two of Salim Khan’s bodyguards.
