Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 Opens Below Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan In Japan, Remains Behind RRR And Baahubali

Tiger 3 roars in Japan, surpassing Dangal, KGF and Brahmastra. However, it is lagging behind RRR and Pathaan in opening numbers.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s movie, Tiger 3, premiered in Japan yesterday, sparking excitement among fans due to the popularity of the Tiger franchise and Salman’s widespread fan base in the country. 

The film’s performance at the Japanese box office was highly anticipated, particularly given its competition with other Bollywood hits like Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra.

Salman Khan’s previous film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, achieved significant success in Japan, further boosting his popularity there. Ahead of the release of Tiger 3, Japanese fans actively shared images of Salman from Bajrangi Bhaijaan on social media, indicating a strong interest in the Spy Universe film. The film’s opening day admissions have now validated this surge in interest.

Tiger 3 had a promising start in Japan, attracting 1.30K viewers on its opening day. This exceeded the first-day attendance of other Bollywood hits like Dangal (1.26K), KGF Chapter 1-KGF Chapter 2 (1.09K), and Brahmastra (1.01K). The movie, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, secured the 6th position among the top opening-day performers in Japan.

However, it fell short of surpassing the first-day records set by other films like Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s RRR and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which claimed the 1st and 3rd spots with 8.23K and 2.22K admissions, respectively.

Directed by Maneesh Sharma, Tiger 3 features Emraan Hashmi, Revathi, Simran, Vishal Jethwa, and Kumud Mishra in significant roles. The movie also includes a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan, while Hrithik Roshan makes a guest appearance as Kabir.

Originally released on November 12, 2023, during the Diwali season, Tiger 3 earned 286 crores at the Indian box office, falling short of expectations despite its global gross of 472.77 crores. It marked the fifth instalment in YRF’s Spy Universe series, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan.
