The trailer of Sam Bahadur, the biopic of India’s first field marshal Sam Manekshaw, is out and it promises to be a thrilling and patriotic ride.
The trailer was launched today at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi, in the presence of Chief of the Army Staff, Manoj Pande. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It is slated to release on December 1, 2023 and clash with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal.

The film stars Vicky Kaushal as the legendary army general who led India to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The trailer showcases his journey from a young officer in World War II to the chief of army staff during the historic war that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh.
The trailer also gives glimpses of Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who entrusted Sam Manekshaw with the responsibility of defending the nation against Pakistan. Sanya Malhotra plays the role of Sam’s wife Silloo, who supported him throughout his career. The trailer also features Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub as a journalist who interviews Sam about his life and achievements.
The trailer builds on the teaser released last month and depicts Vicky Kaushal bring to life every inch of India’s first Field Marshal. He’s seen giving a tough talk to his fellow armymen, while holding his own against several high-profile leaders, including Indira Gandhi, the then-prime minister. The film is set in the late 1960s and early ’70s.
