Bollywood fans were delighted to see Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan share the screen once again in a recent ad for Everest biryani masala. The two superstars, who have worked together in films like Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, showed their chemistry and camaraderie in the ad, which was directed by R Balki.
Balki reveals how he got both SRK and Big B together in same ad
Balki, who has previously collaborated with Bachchan in films like Cheeni Kum, Paa and Shamitabh, revealed how he came up with the idea of bringing the two icons together for the ad. He said that Everest was considering signing Shah Rukh for another one of their brands, and he suggested that they should get both Shah Rukh and Bachchan in the same ad, despite them never having appeared together before. He said that it would be one of the biggest ads and the makers also agreed with his vision.
Balki shared how SRK was very particular about reaching sets before Big B
Balki also shared how Shah Rukh was very particular about reaching the sets before Bachchan and how they had a blast shooting the ad. He said in an interview with Radio Nasha, “They met on the day of the shoot. It was so simple, and Shah Rukh was saying, ‘Just make sure that I am there 10 minutes before Amit ji. You hold him up wherever you can. I have to reach 10 minutes before Amit ji, whatever happens.’”
He added, “Shah Rukh was there half an hour before Amit ji. He was ready before Amit ji came in. He was out there, and they were cracking jokes, happy, and each one was directing the other. So it was like one old school reunion. They get along famously together. So it was just like the most fun day I’ve had in an ad shoot. We shot for 12 hours.”

Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan Call Each Other “Superstar Se Bhi Upar”, “Dilon Ki Dhadkan”
In the commercial, Khan tries to escape the paparazzi by diverting their attention towards Bachchan, but they eventually run away when they shout “Alia” and point in different directions. The actors also shower praises on each other and Alia Bhatt in the ad.
The TVC begins with Shah Rukh prancing around his vanity van, waiting to eat biryani. But as soon as he steps out of his vanity van, he is mobbed by paparazzi. To escape them, he reveals that Big B is in the next vanity van. “Udhar jaiye, Amit ji hain vahan (Go there, there is Amit ji there),” he tells them.
But the senior actor, who is also dreaming about biryani, dissuades the paparazzi from interviewing him. “Arre udhar jaiye, Shah Rukh Khan, superstar, superstar (Go there, Shah Rukh Khan),” he tells them.
Shah Rukh Khan calls Amitabh Bachchan, “superstar se bhi uppar star” (a star above superstar). The senior actor addresses his Mohabbatein co-star as “desh ki dhadkan” (country’s heartbeat).
But when both fail to escape the media, they scream “Alia” and point in different directions. This makes the photographers run to take Alia Bhatt’s photos, and SRK and Big B get a chance to run away to their respective cars.
