In a statement, Aditya Chopra, Pamela’s son who works as a filmmaker, announced that his mother’s cremation took place at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle at 11 am today. The funeral ceremony was attended by her family members, including son Uday and daughter-in-law Rani Mukerji, as well as close friends of the Chopra family who joined in for the final rites.
After the funeral ceremony, celebrities visited the Chopra residence to extend their sympathies to the mourning family. Later in the afternoon, actor and longtime family friend Shah Rukh Khan was also seen arriving at the house, accompanied by his son Aryan Khan. The superstar, dressed in white, paid his respects to the Chopra family.
In the evening, the celebrity couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh visited the house. Ranveer was barely recognizable with his sunglasses, beanie, and face mask. Other celebrities such as Katrina Kaif and her husband Vicky Kaushal, Shraddha Kapoor, Kunal Shashi Kapoor, and Neil Nitin Mukesh were also seen at the Chopra residence to pay their respects and offer their condolences.
“With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 AM today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection,” YRF said in an official statement.
In 1970, Yash and Pamela tied the knot and later had two sons, Aditya and Uday. Pamela was also known for lending her voice to many of Yash’s films. Among her most popular songs were “Main Sasural Nahi Jaungi” from the movie Chandni and “Ghar Aaja Pardesi” from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
Pamela Chopra was recently seen in the Netflix show The Romantics, which traced the rise of Yash Chopra and YRF. Her portrayal in the show was appreciated, especially the way she spoke fondly about marrying Yash Chopra and standing by his side through thick and thin. Pamela was a multitalented personality, being a singer, writer, dress designer, producer, and associate producer. She has sung in various films like Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Trishul (1978), Kaala Patthar (1979), Silsila (1981), Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991), Darr (1993). She was also credited as a writer in films like Kabhi Kabhie and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997).
