As the release of Mufasa: The Lion King nears, excitement continues to build, especially for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his family. The Hindi version of the film will feature SRK alongside his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, with fans eagerly anticipating their voiceovers.
Shah Rukh recently opened up about how AbRam’s involvement in the film felt like a continuation of the family ‘legacy’.
Shah Rukh Khan Says AbRam’s Involvement Was Deeply Personal
Speaking about the special moment to Pinkvilla, SRK revealed, “Actually, Gauri, Suhana, AbRam, Aryan Khan everyone at home was very excited. I don’t know how to explain it, but because we’ve done this before, first Incredibles, then The Lion King and Aryan was there, and I was there too. So, when AbRam got the chance, it just feels like it’s a continuation of our family.”
For Shah Rukh Khan, it wasn’t just about being a part of a major Disney franchise. It was deeply personal. He continued, “It’s very personal, actually. More than thinking, – Wow, I’m going to be in The Lion King or I’m going to be Baby Mufasa. It wasn’t like that. Actually, yes, somewhere it was. I don’t think he said it, but the feeling was, ‘I will do it, who else will?’”
Shah Rukh Khan On How It Felt Like A True Legacy
Shah Rukh described how this experience felt like a true legacy for the Khan family. The fact that Aryan, AbRam, and himself are now connected to characters like Simba and Baby Mufasa was a moment of pride. “The fact that Aryan, AbRam, and I are connected to The Lion King, Simba, and Baby Mufasa’s legacy,” SRK added.
King Khan admitted that while he was proud of the achievement, it also felt sweet and nostalgic. He also shared his thoughts on how his children might react to their involvement in the film years down the line.
He said, “As they grow older, I’m not sure if they’ll feel embarrassed or laugh at themselves hearing their childhood voices. But for us, it’s a cherished moment, especially given my 35 years in the industry.”
