Actor Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Srikanth. He recently shared an intriguing anecdote about advice he received from none other than Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Here’s What Shah Rukh Khan Said To Rajkummar Rao
In an interview with Mashable, Rajkummar recounted Shah Rukh’s counsel, saying, “Shah Rukh sir had taught me one thing ‘Beta kabhi bhi ghar lega na toh aukat se thoda zyada lena. Kyonki phir na, upar wala bhi dekhta hai aur tu khud bhi zyada mehnat karega (Whenever you buy a house, buy one a little beyond your means. That way, you’ll work harder because you’d want to earn it).” He found this advice fascinating, acknowledging, “Having a home in the city is of course a dream. We have built it lovingly – me and Patralekhaa.”
The property in question, an opulent spread spanning 3456 square feet, was previously owned by his Mr and Mrs Mahi co-star Janhvi Kapoor, who purchased it in 2020. Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekhaa sealed the deal in 2022, acquiring the premium property for a reported sum of Rs 44 crore.
Shah Rukh Khan Had Earlier Said Something Similar About Buying His Home ‘Mannat’
Rajkummar’s revelation echoes Shah Rukh Khan’s previous remarks about his own residence, Mannat, being beyond his initial means. At the launch of Gauri Khan’s coffee-table book My Life In Design, Shah Rukh candidly shared, “When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means, and once we were done buying the house, we didn’t have money to decorate it. We hired a designer, only to realize we couldn’t afford him.”
Reflecting on his interactions with Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkummar had previously praised the actor’s humility and respect towards others in an interview with Humans of Bombay. “There’s a lot to learn from [Shah Rukh Khan],” he said. “His whole attention is on you. He’s present, that’s a great quality. Just to listen to someone. At every party, he would go down three floors, come to your car, open the door for you, make you sit and say bye to you till you are out of his sight.”
