Rajkumar Hirani has parted ways with his mentor and co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra after co-producing four films with him. Sanju was Hirani’s first feature film that he produced himself. Chopra will not be a part in Hirani’s upcoming film alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The film’s co-producers are Hirani and Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
Shah Rukh Khan and Vinod Chopra reportedly have a history. In fact, according to industry rumours that have never been confirmed, Shah Rukh felt offended by Vidhu Vinod Chopra when the latter kept him waiting outside his office for hours when he was fresh to the profession. Following this encounter, Shah Rukh reportedly stated that he would never work with Vinod Chopra again.
The movie in discussion, which has yet to be named, is expected to begin shooting in September this year, but pre-production has already begun. The film is said to be an amusing comedy set against the backdrop of immigration, would reportedly star Taapsee Pannu.
