Shahid Kapoor is all set for an exciting start to 2025. After finishing his intense role in Deva, the actor is now preparing for a completely different look in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film, Arjun Ustara.
Shahid Kapoor Drops BTS Update Ahead Of Arjun Ustara Shoot
On December 17, Shahid shared a monochrome mirror selfie on Instagram Stories, hinting at his prep for the new role. In the background, a framed portrait of the actor could be seen.
He captioned the post, “Prep time… Naya saal naya maal… (New year, new stuff) Next character, next film what can I do that I haven’t before… lost in the woods…”
Reflecting on his process, Shahid compared his Deva character to his upcoming role. He wrote, “But you can’t be original if you aren’t ready to be lost… DEVA was dark and menacing yet vulnerable and noble… who will this new guy be… No friggin clue so far… But what a joy to discover yet again what lies within…”
Adding to the anticipation, he teased his role and wrote, “Sliding into the edgy, nasty gangster 90s.”

The excitement for Arjun Ustara has been building since Vishal Bhardwaj announced the project in September. This film reunites Shahid and Bhardwaj, who worked together on hits like Kaminey and Haider. Bhardwaj expressed his enthusiasm for teaming up with Shahid again, alongside producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Actress Triptii Dimri has also joined the cast as the female lead.
Film Goes On Floors From Next Month
Production begins on January 6, 2025. According to sources, a massive set is under construction in Mumbai, with over 500 people working on it. The team is recreating the city’s underworld during the post-independence era. “The idea is to mount it on a massive scale,” a source revealed, adding that the film aims to bring the 90s Mumbai vibe to life.
Meanwhile, Shahid’s Deva is set to release on January 31, 2025. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and featuring Pooja Hegde, the film promises to be a gripping watch.
