Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, and Hema Malini starred in the 1990 Bollywood smash “Jamai Raja,” which is being reimagined by the Indian media and entertainment company Shemaroo Entertainment in association with Indian Media Entertainment Network (IMEN). On October 19, the 32nd anniversary of the movie’s theatrical release, the information was made public.
The 1989 Telugu film “Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu,” starring Chiranjeevi and Vijayshanti, was written and directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy and centres on a mother-in-law and son-in-law dispute. In the same year as Rajinikanth’s “Mappillai” and another Tamil remake of the same name starring Dhanush, it was remade in the language of Tamil. “Jamai Raja” was also directed by Reddy. Prosenjit Chatterjee starred in the 2000 Bengali-language version “Sasurbari Zindabad,” which was released.
Shemaroo Entertainment, which is commemorating its 60th year of providing entertainment in India, has a vast library of content that includes more than 400 IPs and many classics. The organisation wants to update outdated content by adding a more current, youth-focused touch. The highly acclaimed comedy film Jamai Raja is the first move in this direction.
IMEN CEO Nilesh Sahay continued, “The majority of content consumed internationally is the action genre. It is our duty to produce the best action content for people to enjoy as a company that specializes in that genre. Shemaroo has long been associated with family entertainment, so I’m thrilled to collaborate with them to deliver Jamai Raja, a large-scale action entertainer that will make people laugh hysterically and cry a little bit, in theatres. The movie will be produced in a big way, and I am sure the viewers will love it.”
