
In 2007 an obscenity case was filed in the Rajasthan court against Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. According to the reports, A case was filed against Shilpa Shetty and Hollywood star Richard Gere for a controversial kiss in public.

In 2007, Shilpa and Mr Gere were at Rajasthan for an AIDS awareness event. At this event, Mr Gere continuously hugged Shilpa and planted a kiss on her cheek. After this incident, the Indian folks fumed in anger and a lot of protests took place for this behaviour in public. The complaint against Shilpa was that she did not protest when kissed by Richard Gere; the case was transferred from a Rajasthan court to Mumbai on the order of the Supreme Court.

After a decade, the Mumbai court has finally discharged Shilpa Shetty on January 18, reports PTI. “It seems that the accused Shilpa Shetty is the victim of the alleged act of accused no. 1 (Richard Gere). Not a single element of any of the alleged offence is being satisfied in the complaint,” metropolitan magistrate Ketki Chavan said in the court order, “This by no stretch of imagination makes her a conspirator or perpetrator of any crime.” The court order was made available on Monday.
