Rahi Anil Barve Breaks Silence
Filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve has (finally) addressed the swirling rumours about Shraddha Kapoor’s alleged exit from Ekta Kapoor’s forthcoming high-concept thriller.
Those rumours began to proliferate when reports emerged claiming that the actress was asking a whopping ₹17 crore, plus backend profits — an amount of money that reportedly caused the film’s budget to fall apart.
Well, Barve’s new statement is more cryptic than clear.

In a short but informative quote, Tumbbad director Rahi Anil Barve responded to enquiries regarding Shraddha Kapoor‘s exit by saying:
“These are all rumours. It’s all rumours. At this moment, all I can say is that I am finishing Rakt Brahmand. I am working on my next. That’s it.”
Barve did not confirm nor deny Shraddha’s exit and instead focused the attention on his current web series project, Rakt Brahmand, which is back on track after initial production delays due to a financial issue.
₹17 Crore Fee Demand – Too Much For A Female-Led Film?
According to a recent report, Shraddha Kapoor reportedly asked for ₹17 crore, plus a profit share, to headline Ekta Kapoor’s untitled thriller.
If true, she would be one of the highest-paid actresses in the country. But sources close to the project reveal that Ekta Kapoor thought the ask was exorbitant, especially given the current box office of women-driven films.
Now, the producers are reportedly looking at alternative casting options and are currently in discussions with a handful of other leading ladies to take over the role.
What’s Next for Shraddha Kapoor?
Although neither Shraddha nor Ekta Kapoor has said anything official, sources within the industry have indicated that Shraddha is taking a look at a couple of scripts at the moment and is in discussions with Dinesh Vijan, Boney Kapoor, and Bhushan Kumar for prospective new projects.
An official announcement on her next film is expected in the next couple of months.
