The Street Girl Steps Into Maharashtrian Culture?
The Stree girl from Bollywood is possibly about to step into a culturally loaded Maharashtrian character. If the reports are correct, the actress Shraddha Kapoor is in discussions with Dinesh Vijan and director Laxman Uttekar for a new feature film based on a Marathi novel, which will likely mark her first theatrical release after Stree 2.
Shraddha Kapoor Spotted At Maddock Films Office, Generates Speculation
On May 26, 2025, Shraddha Kapoor was spotted at the Maddock Films office in Mumbai, and it set off the speculation machine. Besides the obvious, it was later revealed she had attended a meeting to discuss a film pitch that producers Laxman Uttekar (director of Chhaava) and Dinesh Vijan (creator of the Stree franchise and the film Thama) had already outlined.
An insider told,
“Laxman and Shraddha discussed a script that she really enjoyed and she has principally agreed to come on board. If all goes well, this will be the next film she does after Stree 2.”
A Culturally Grounded Story With A Marathi Flavour
The reportedly untitled film will be based off of a popular Marathi novel, and Shraddha will play a Maharashtrian character. All details on the storyline and casting are still very secretive — including who would be the A-list male cast member.
“This is a project steeped in Maharashtrian culture, a culture that both Dinesh and Laxman both appreciated. Shraddha’s knowledge of the culture makes her the ideal candidate,” said the source.
What Next for Maddock & Shraddha?
This reunion is important not only because Shraddha has a long-time relationship with Maddock Films but also because Dinesh Vijan is on a hot streak with two ₹500 crore grossers. The studio is also gearing up for Thama, a horror-comedy film with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, as their first major release for Diwali 2025.
For Shraddha, this film could be her next big-screen outing post Stree 2, especially since her recent conversations with Tumbbad director Anil Rahi Barve fell through.
On the other side, Laxman Uttekar is working on a three-hero mega project that is eyeing production between 2026–27.
Box Office Worldwide Verdict
With Shraddha Kapoor linking back with Maddock Films and Laxman Uttekar, it means an interesting mix of authenticity and gamble. If this rooted, Maharashtrian drama pulls through, it could be another landmark for Shraddha’s developing filmography — one that combines commercial appeal with emotional heft.
