Shraddha Kapoor, who became the face of the horror-comedy film (now a franchise) Stree, is back with producer Dinesh Vijan. This time, they have joined hands with Chhaava and Luka Chhupi director Laxman Utekar for Eetha. The movie has gone on floors last night.
Shraddha Kapoor’s movie Eetha has gone on floors. The film is a biopic on legendary tamasha artist Vithabai. She is a legend among the Maharashtrians who understand folk culture. Born in July 1935 in Pandharpur, Solapur district, she came from a family of performers and began her career at a young age. Vithabai, who earned the President’s Award for her contributions twice – in 1957 and 1990 – was known for her captivating stage presence, powerful voice, and energetic dance performances.
Eetha brings back Shraddha with Dinesh Vijan after Stree, but that is not all. Chhaava director Laxman Utekar is directing the project, which has fans more excited for the project that will feature a Hindi cinema actress who has roots in the Maharashtrian culture. Furthermore, Ajay-Atul have been roped in for the film’s music. This is bound to ensure that the movie connects with the Marathi audiences the most.
The reference behind the title Eetha
While Vittha (reference: Vitthala) is more commonly used, Eetha is how Vittha is pronounced in certain areas. This holds especially true for remote villages. There, they are bound to understand Eetha more than Vittha. Thus, the title of the film that is based on Vithabai.
