Salman Khan starrer Sikandar is struggling at the box office and has failed to score big numbers. It had an average start and the word-of-mouth has not been great, which led to numbers starting to fall.
After a busy opening, audience interest has dropped, and some screenings have been cancelled in certain areas.
Sikandar Screenings CANCELLED At Some Places
Reports show that Sikandar has not been attracting large crowds. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “There were no cancellations in Mumbai on the first two days, but in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, and Indore, some shows were indeed cut short. These areas, especially those with little Eid effect, saw dismal numbers.”
Kiritbhai T Vaghasia, who runs a multiplex in Surat, shared his experience. He said, “We didn’t sell a single ticket for the 9:00 am and 10:00 am shows on Monday. I was hoping for more audience on Eid, but instead, Sunday saw more ticket sales. The word of mouth spread quickly, and by Monday, the numbers had fallen drastically.”
Because of this, Kiritbhai had to replace Sikandar screenings with Gujarati films All The Best Pandya and Umbarro. These films have been attracting decent crowds, with Umbarro still doing well after nine weeks.
In Mumbai, the trend of replacing Sikandar with more successful films is clear. For example, Inox Raghuleela Kandivali replaced Sikandar’s 9:30 pm show with All The Best Pandya starting April 1.
Similarly, PVR Orion Mall Panvel swapped Sikandar with the Malayalam film L2 Empuraan, starring Mohanlal. This film has been doing well in several locations. In South Mumbai, the John Abraham-starrer The Diplomat has taken over the 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm slots at Metro Inox and Inox Nariman Point.
Mumbai’s Gaiety Galaxy Adds More Screens Amid Heavy Demand For Salman Khan Starrer
Despite these struggles, Gaiety-Galaxy, one of Mumbai’s iconic multiplexes, is still showing strong support for Sikandar. Since March 30, the film has been playing in the 991-seater Gaiety and 818-seater Galaxy halls. Even with its underperformance elsewhere, Sikandar was house-full on Eid at this venue, proving Salman Khan’s stardom is still going strong, especially with his loyal fanbase.
The Gaiety-Galaxy complex has even added more screenings for Sikandar, including additional shows in the 105-seater Gossip from March 31. Despite its struggles in other theatres, the film’s strong turnout at Gaiety-Galaxy shows that Salman Khan’s films still have a lasting appeal. Even as other cinemas move on to new releases, Sikandar continues to do well in this iconic venue.
