As Akshay Kumar prepares for the release of Sky Force, the actor has shared his views on the need to revise Indian history books. The film, which introduces Veer Pahariya as Indian Air Force officer T Vijaya, highlights the story of a lesser-known hero.
Akshay Kumar Feels History Textbooks Require Correction
During his recent chat with News18, Akshay expressed how history often neglects such unsung figures.
“History books need to be corrected. A lot of things there need to be corrected. We read about Akbar or Aurangzeb but do not read about our own heroes. They need to be mentioned,” Akshay said.
He pointed out that T Vijaya’s sacrifice is missing from textbooks and stressed the importance of recognising the bravery and leadership of Indian soldiers.
Actor On Why Takes Roles On Lesser-Known Heros
Akshay also spoke about the many jawans who have been awarded honours like the Param Vir Chakra for their courage but remain largely unknown. He believes these stories should be included in history books to inspire the younger generation.
“These stories of bravery and sacrifice should be shared widely so that people know the real heroes of our country,” he added.
The actor (known for portraying real-life heroes) revealed that his choice of roles is deliberate. Through his films, he aims to raise awareness about these forgotten stories and bring them to the forefront.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Sky Force promises to be an emotional tribute to the Indian Air Force. The film is set in the 1960s and also features Sara Ali Khan as Veer Pahariya’s love interest. Nirmat Kaur and Sharad Kelkar are also part of the cast, adding depth to this patriotic narrative.
The film is slated for a global release on 24 January 2025, perfectly timed for the Republic Day weekend.
