Sonu Nigam SLAMS IIFA 2025 For Snubbing Him In Best Singer Category, Amaal Mallik Says ‘Mazaak Banake Rakh Diya Hai’

Sonu Nigam has called out the IIFA Awards 2025 after being excluded from the Best Playback Singer (Male) category. Check out his post below!

Sonu Nigam is back in the headlines, but not with his new music project. The singer is grabbing eyeballs after he took a stand against the IIFA Awards 2025 for being left out of the Best Playback Singer (Male) category.

Sonu Nigam Calls Out IIFA For Snubbing Him From Nominations

The grand event was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. However, Sonu’s song “Mere Dholna 3.0” from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was not included in the nominations. Expressing his frustration, he shared a screenshot of the nominees on Instagram.

Along with it, he wrote, “Thank you IIFA… After all, you were answerable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.”

The nominations featured some of the biggest names in the industry. Arijit Singh was nominated for “Sajni” (Laapataa Ladies), Karan Aujla for “Tauba Tauba” (Bad Newz), Diljit Dosanjh and Badshah for “Naina” (Crew), Jubin Nautiyal for “Dua” (Article 370), and Mitraz for “Akhiyaan Gulaab” (Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya). Jubin Nautiyal won the award.

Industry And Fans Come In Support Of Singer

As soon as Sonu shared his reaction, fans and industry insiders voiced their support. Music composer Amaal Mallik criticised the award show and said “Such is the world that we live in…. Mazaak banake rakh diya hai.”

Singer Jjaan Kumar Sanu also supported Sonu, writing, “Dada, you are above these awards, to be honest. We all love you.”

Fans believe that Sonu’s exclusion could be linked to his past remarks about the Rajasthan Chief Minister. Last year, he had criticised the CM for walking out of his performance.

One user commented, “For everyone who did not understand, a few days ago Sonu ji slammed the CM of Rajasthan for leaving his concert midway, and this year’s IIFA took place in Jaipur. It’s not hard to believe that the CM’s influence affected the nominations. That’s what he meant by the caption.”

Sonu Nigam has often spoken about favouritism in the music industry. He has criticised award shows for overlooking talent in favour of politics. His song from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was a chartbuster, yet it did not get nominated.
