The film of 2023 that tops the list is the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed Vikrant Massey-starrer 12th Fail. The film, which draws inspiration from real-life stories, came as a surprise package to the audiences and gave the much-needed important content to the masses in such an impactful way that it resonated with everyone who watched it. Flawless filmmaking comes from error-less storytelling, and this film proved that nothing can beat the content to win. The film not only minted money at the ticket window but also spoke volumes with its content and has completed 60+ days in cinemas.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra delivered biggest hit of his career in 5th decade of his career. He directed a pitch perfect film which is loved by audience as well as critics. This is the film which stood as exception in 2023 when all big budget films worked.
Vikrant Massey always been a good actor but first time he managed to deliver a box office hit which got so much wide spread critical recognition. A film made with eight intentions and fantastic groups of actors and technicians!
Even after 8th weekend, film is still running in cinemas with 53 cr nett plus number. It braved Tejason release day and then managed to stay afloat despite release of Tiger 3, Animal and Sam Bahadur. Now film is available to watch on Disney Hotstar.
Vicky Kaushal: Dark Horse Of 2023
Another high-content drama that was well received by the audiences is RSVP Movies recently released Sam Bahadur, which explores the story of Sam Manekshaw, one of the most decorated officers in the Indian army who served for over four decades and fought five wars. Vicky Kaushal delivered exceptional performances in ‘not so perfect film’. Later in the year, he shone bright in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Rajkumar Hirani film Dunki where he left massive impact in a brief role. In addition to this he delivered a sweet small town hit film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
Sam Bahadur clashed with pop culture phenomenon Animal and despite that, it managed to cross 100 crore worldwide gross and 85 cr nett domestic total. A proud hit! Zara Hatke Zara Bachke crossed 80 cr nett too and was a clean hit.
Rani Mukerji Continues To Rule Hearts
Rani Mukerji gave one of the finest performances of 2023 in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. Though film was just decent success at box office but her act as fighting mother won accolades from all over. She keeps delivering one hell of a performance after one another.
