SRK’S DDLJ As One Of The Bookmarks In A 75 Year Directory By TOI, Only Film To Feature As Landmark!

Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starrer all time blockbuster hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), a Hindi-language musical romance drama released in1995 placed itself as one of the Bookmarks in a 75 Year Directory By Times Of India on 15th of August while India celebrating 75 years of independence. 

Also, on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, Google recently unveiled a vibrant online project drawing from rich archives and featuring artistic illustrations to narrate the story of the country, titled ‘India Ki Udaan,’ the project celebrates the achievements and the undying spirit of the country over the last 75 years. In a video post on Twitter, Google celebrated India’s 75 years of independence and featured DDLJ as one of the turning points. 

The film is written and directed by Aditya Chopra in his directorial debut and produced by his father Yash Chopra. DDLJ is one of the only three Hindi films in the reference book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, and was placed 12th on the British Film Institute’s list of top Indian films of all time. 

DDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema. The film is being shown at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai for over 25 years.

Even after more than 25 years of its release, the film still has a huge impact on the audience and has influenced each and every viewer a lot. The characters Raj (played by Shahrukh) and Simran (played by Kajol) are still loved by people and the real life couples have idealised the onscreen pair of Raj and Simran. The dialogues of the film like ‘Ja Simran ja jee le apni zindagi’ are still on the mouths of many people.

The film achieved so many National Awards and broke many records, making it no wonder to feature itself as one of the Bookmarks in a 75 Year Directory By Times Of India and featuring in Google’s ‘IndiaKi Udaan’.
