The wait is officially over!
Shah Rukh Khan’s most awaited action saga, King, has now finally gone on the floors, but interestingly, the King has not arrived just yet. The focus now is on the new pair — Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma, who are already shooting at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai, directed by Siddharth Anand.
The shooting was supposed to happen on May 16 but had some rescheduling that postponed the first day of shooting a little. Sources now reveal that Suhana, who released a film last year with The Archies, and Abhay Verma, from Munjya, have officially started initial shooting.
“Abhay was originally to join later in June or July, but his scenes got moved up thanks to changing production logistics,” revealed a source close to the unit.
This also becomes a historic on-screen occasion as Shah Rukh and Suhana will share cinematic space for the first time in a feature film. The two have shared the screen prior in an advertisement managed by Aryan Khan, but this is their first full-scale theatrical project together.
Obsolete sources indicate that Khan will shoot a little later in the schedule; however, some shots of smaller sequences and stunt doubles have been filmed already so that they can be filmed under tight security to avoid any filming leaks. With Siddharth Anand helming and Deepika Padukone taking a strong leading role, King is emerging as a film that is one of the most technically masterful Bollywood films, if not in history.
The star-studded cast is almost unbelievable.
Apart from Suhana and Khan, King boasts Rani Mukerji, reportedly playing Suhana’s mother, and Abhishek Bachchan playing the lead antagonist. The cast is further highlighted by:
- Anil Kapoor
- Jaideep Ahlawat
- Arshad Warsi
- Jackie Shroff
The action drama film, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Marflix Pictures, has been promoted as India’s version of the Bond-Bourne universe, featuring high-octane chase scenes, an emotional arc, and a legacy angle that adds depth of interest.
