Sunny Deol starrer period romantic drama Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was released in 2001 alongside Aamir Khan‘s Lagaan. Despite that the film, which also stars Amisha Patel, went on to become one of the most commercially successful Bollywood films of all time. Now, the makers are coming up with its sequel after around 22 years. Earlier this week, the first teaser of Gadar 2 was dropped.
The teaser has amped up the excitement in fans who have been waiting for the film ever since it was announced. The film is set in 1971 during the ‘Crush India movement’ in Pakistan and follows the life of Tara Singh (played by Deol). However, the character of Sakina (played by Patel) was missing from the teaser. At one point, Tara is seen right beside someone’s grave. The character is extremely sad at that moment. This has generated speculations about whether Sakina dies in the film and if it’s her grave in the film.
However, a source has clarified that it is not Sakina’s grave in the shot. They also said that the makers will soon release another teaser that will entirely focus on Amisha’s character without giving away any pivotal information about the plot.

About Gadar 2
Gadar 2, also known as Gadar 2: The Katha Continues is directed by Anil Sharma, who also helmed the first film. It is written by Shaktimaan Talwar. The plot chronicles Tara Singh who returns to Pakistan to bring back his and Sakina’s son Charanjeet. Utkarsh Sharma, who played the role of Charanjeet in the first film, will be reprising his role. Utkash is the real-life son of the film’s director Anil.
Simran Kaur, Luv Sinha, Manish Wadhwa, and Gaurav Chopra will be playing supporting roles in the film. Gadar 2 is scheduled to release theatrically on August 11. Sunny was last seen in 2022’s crime thriller film Chup: Revenge of the Artist, directed by R. Balki.
