Sunny Deol delivered one of the biggest hits of the year 2001 with Gadar. Co-starring Ameesha Patel, the film follows the story of Tara Singh who falls in love with a Muslim woman during the 1947 India-Pakistan partition. The film was one of the highest grosser of that year. Now, the makers are coming up with its sequel titled Gadar 2, where both Sunny and Ameesha are reprising their roles.
Ahead of the film release, Sunny gave an interview with Aaj Tak’s Seedhi Baat segment. In it, he was asked about the media’s coverage of drug abuse in Bollywood. In response, he said “Sada hua Bollywood nahi hai, sade hue insaan hai. Aur vo kis field me nahi hai, ye bataiye. Businessman ho, sportsman ho, jaha latt lagi hui hu, vo charo taraf hai. Hum glamour vale hai to unhe humare pe ungli uthane maza ata hai.”
The issue was in reference to the 2020 case in which Rhea Chakraborty was arrested for the possession of marijuana. In October 2021, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in a drugs-related case from a Goa-bound cruise ship. However, he was released on bail as no drug was found on him. Since the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020, there have been talks of rampant drug use in Bollywood.
Sunny Deol Is Gearing Up For Gadar 2
As the release of Gadar 2 nears, Sunny has kick-started its promotion. Recently, he visited Longewala in Rajasthan to talk and spend some time with the Border Security Force (BSF) jawans. This is the site where the 1971 Indo-Pak war took place and it was also the main location of Sunny’s 1997 war film Border. He shared some pics on social media from the tour. In one of them, Sunny can be seen posing in front of a vessel. He also got into an arm wrestling match with a BSF soldier. He was also seen training to work a submachine gun. The soldiers also sang Udd Ja Kaale Kaava on which Sunny danced.

About Gadar 2
Gadar 2 is directed by Anil Sharma who also directed the highly successful first installment. It marks a reunion of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel once again on the big screen. This time, Tara Singh goes to Pakistan to bring his son in 1971. The film, which also stars Utkarsh Sharma, is scheduled to release theatrically on August 11th. It will clash at the ticket window with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2.
