Get ready for a deeply moving moment as the team of Ikkis visited the National War Memorial in New Delhi to honor India’s fallen heroes. In a solemn ceremony marked by silence and reflection, actors Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia bowed their heads in tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. This powerful visit comes just days before the film’s Christmas release, making it an emotional moment for everyone involved.
The visit held special significance as Ikkis brings to screen the inspiring story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardees. Standing at the memorial, the team acknowledged not just his extraordinary courage, but the countless soldiers who gave their tomorrow so that the country could have its today. The actors were visibly moved as they walked through the Tyag Chakra, also known as the Circle of Sacrifice, touching the bricks that bear the names of fallen soldiers.
A Moment Of Reel Meeting Real
The most touching moment came when Agastya Nanda, who plays Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal in the film, came face to face with the bronze bust of the war hero. The young actor looked at the statue with reverence, perhaps feeling the weight of the responsibility he carries in bringing this legend’s story to life. The cast then laid a floral wreath and flower petals at the bust, folding their hands in prayer and saluting alongside military officers. This moment of reel meeting real was deeply emotional for everyone present.
Jaideep Ahlawat Shares Powerful Words
Speaking at the memorial, Jaideep Ahlawat said, “The film is based on the life and martyrdom of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. So, there could be no better place than this to honor our martyrs who sacrificed their lives while defending this country.” He added, “We will try our best to honor his martyrdom and remember him in every way we can. On behalf of our entire team of Ikkis, we pay our deepest respects to all the brave martyrs. Jai Hind.” His words captured the spirit of the film and the team’s commitment to honoring this legacy.
Why This Tribute Matters
The title Ikkis means twenty one in Hindi, which was the age at which Arun Khetarpal made the ultimate sacrifice during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo Pak War. The film aims to inspire today’s youth by showcasing the courage and dedication of this young officer who defined the true meaning of valour and sacrifice. The National War Memorial was chosen as the location for this tribute because it stands as the ultimate symbol of gratitude to India’s fallen soldiers. The promotional video, shot at India Gate circle, features the powerful background track with lyrics “Tu hai Toofaan” and “Dil hai mitti, lohe ki jaan,” emphasizing themes of resilience and strength.
