Directed by Raj Mehta, this year’s big action-drama SELFIEE releases in theatres on 24th Feb, 2023.

About Akshay Kumar and Dharma:

‘Selfiee’ is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Productions banner. This is Akshay’s third collaboration with Karan as a producer, following ‘Kesari’ and ‘Good Newwz’. Surprisingly, all three Akshay films with Dharma have dealt with very different themes.

‘Kesari’ was based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi between the Afghan and British armies. The latter had only 21 warriors, all of whom were Sikhs. Akshay portrayed the commander of a 21-man army pitted against hundreds of Afghan warriors.

While ‘Kesari’ was based on a true historical story, ‘Good Newwz’ was a straight-up comedy. The film, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani, was a lighthearted look at what happens when an IVF center accidentally switches two sets of sperms.

In an interview with, Akshay Kumar talked about his experience working with Karan Johar. Akshay said, “It’s not often that a producer works with an actor in two such big films in one year. I am guessing that our collaboration is mutual because we admire and respect each other’s work ethic immensely. That’s why we are and want to continue making films together.”
