Thama Teaser: Ayushmann Khurrana And Rashmika Mandanna’s Love Story Turns “Bloody” In Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe First

Maddock Films continues its trend of crafting folklore-infused spectacles with Thama, its latest entry in a sprawling horror-comedy universe that includes Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan alongside Amar Kaushik, Thama charts a bold new path, a story rooted in romance rather than outright comedy.

Thama Teaser Unleashes a Bloody Romance

The newly released teaser dropped with the cryptic caption: “Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY!” It delivers on the promise of a primal, savage longing set in a gorgeously eerie milieu.

We see Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna navigating a terrifying jungle, with Ayushman’s dialogue: “Rah paogi mere bina? 100 saal tak?”

Rashmika’s reply is defiant and immediate: “100 saal to kya, ek pal ke liye bhi nahi.” These lines set the emotional tone, a love so fierce it risks eternal damnation. We also see a glimpse of Malaika Arora’s dance number in the teaser.

Thama: Star Studded Cast, Set For A Mythic Clash

Ayushmann Khurrana stars as a historian on a quest to uncover vampiric origins in Vijayanagara, tracing a haunting love that spans timelines. Rashmika plays Tadaka, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui appears as Yakshaashan and Paresh Rawal is a vampire hunter.

Excitement further builds with the report that Varun Dhawan filmed a cameo, sparking a potential showdown between a vampire and a bhediya, or werewolf. And for fans of glitzy dance numbers, Thama will feature a show-stopping sequence starring Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi.

About Thama

The first-look posters, revealing the characters’ unsettling beauty and period aesthetic, have already ignited chatter across social media yesterday.

In a previous interview, Thama’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar, said, “Thama is a love story. As you have seen all the other films in the Maddock Universe or the Stree World, this is very different and not a pure horror-comedy. It is a romantic comedy film with certain supernatural elements backing it. Vampire is a supernatural element; it is a love story between a human and a vampire. The larger genre is comedy, so it is fun and a love story through the lens of Maddock Universe. Stree, Bhediya and Munjya were front-footed horror that created that sense of fear. This is more of a romantic film. We felt enough horror comedies were delivered at Maddock, we wanted to deviate a bit but stay in the world by exploring other genres as well.”

Slated for theatrical release at Diwali 2025, Thama positions itself as a high-stakes festive release. With passionate romance entwined with folklore, mythic creatures, dance extravagance, and superstar cameos, it promises to be a genre-defying spectacle.
