Netflix India has announced the release date of its highly anticipated The Archies, which is based on the popular American comics of the same name. The film, directed by Zoya Akhtar, will premiere on the streaming platform on December 7, 2023.
The Archies marks the acting debut of three star kids who belong to some of the most influential families in Bollywood. They are Suhana Khan, the daughter of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan; Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of late actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor; and Agastya Nanda, the grandson of megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
The film also features Mihir Ahuja as Jughead Jones, Vedang Raina as Reggie Mantle, Yuvraj Menda as Dilton Doiley and Dot as Ethel Muggs. Singer Aditi Saigal will also make her acting debut in the film.

According to the makers, the film is set in the 1960s and explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion through the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. It will take audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale, where the teenagers form a band called The Archies and face various challenges and adventures.
The film is co-written by Akhtar along with filmmaker Reema Kagti and Ayesha Devitre, who have previously collaborated on films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do and Gully Boy. The film is produced by Netflix India, Akhtar and Kagti’s Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India.
