The Dirty Picture Is All Set To Have A Sequel But Will Not Feature Vidya Balan This Time

Producer Ekta Kapoor has been planning a sequel to The Dirty Picture for a long time and she has finally cracked an idea after exploring dozens of them over the years.

Writer Kanika Dhillon, who was the reason for the boycott trend against Akshay Kumar starrer film Rakshabandhan because of her statements made in the past, is currently working on the sequel of the blockbuster hit, ‘The Dirty Picture’, but this time the film isn’t featuring Vidya Balan in it, instead Kriti Sanon, Taapsee Pannu and others are vying to bag the role played by her.

The Dirty Picture is considered to be one of the boldest commercial Bollywood film and was based on the life of Silk Smitha. The Dirty Picture 2 is expected to feature a completely different plotline and a different set of actors.

Producer Ekta Kapoor has been planning a sequel to The Dirty Picture for a long time and she has finally cracked an idea after exploring dozens of them over the years. Screenplay writer Kanika Dhillon, who’s known for writing women-oriented stories such as Manmarziyaan, Haseen Dillruba, Judgementall Hai Kya, and Rashmi Rocket, among others, has been brought on board to write the story of this film. She is writing the script along with a male writer and is expected to finish it by the end of this year. Ekta and her team at Balaji Motion Pictures are excited about this project and are planning to start its shoot in the first quarter of 2023. However, it has been asserted that the writer of the prequel Rajat Arora will not be a part of The Dirty Picture 2.

Actress Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon are eager to play the lead character in the sequel. According to the sources, “Ekta wanted to cast Kangana Ranaut, but she has politely turned down the offer as she doesn’t want to disturb her righteous image. Taapsee, Kriti, and others have expressed their interest, but Ekta has requested them to wait until the writing is finished.”

Now the thing to be noticed is that whether the sequel would be a success at the box office like its prequel or will go through a boycott trend because of its writer Kanika Dhillon.
