Earlier it was reported that Santosh Sivan was directing Vikrant Massey in the Hindi remake of Tamil film, Maanagaram. Now the title of the film has been fixed and it will be called as Mumbaikar. The project will also mark South star Vijay Sethupathi’s Bollywood debut.
The makers are planning to commence the film in Mumbai, it will be a 50-day schedule.
Maanagaram was released in 2017, the film stared Sri, Sundeep Kishan, and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles. The story of the film revolves around a young man who goes to Chennai and gets beaten up in a case of mistaken identity. Other characters too face life-threatening situations and struggle to survive in a violent city.
Mumbaikar also stars Tanya Maniktala, Hridhu Haroon, Sanjay Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Sachin Khedekar in important roles.
The film marks producer Shibu Thameens’ debut in Bollywood.
