After the historic success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, the wait is finally over! The makers have officially announced Lokah Chapter 2, and this time, the universe is getting bigger with two of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars, Dulquer Salmaan and Tovino Thomas, sharing the screen.
The announcement came with a cool new poster and a special video clip that gives fans a first peek into what’s coming next. On Saturday, Dulquer Salmaan shared the poster on social media, confirming that a new chapter in the groundbreaking saga is about to begin. The news has sent waves of excitement across the country, as fans are eager to see these two powerhouses together.
A Chilling Glimpse And A Darker Story
The makers released an announcement video titled ‘When Legends Chill: Michael and Charlie’, which has gotten everyone talking. In the clip, Tovino Thomas returns as the powerful folkloric figure, Michael (the Chaathan), and is seen in a serious conversation with a new character, Charlie, played by Dulquer Salmaan.
The video hints at a much darker and more intense storyline for the sequel. Michael cryptically tells Charlie that “his brother was released” and that he needs help. This single line suggests a dangerous new threat is on the horizon. The film will again be helmed by writer-director Dominic Arun, who created the first film.
Building On Blockbuster Success
The announcement for Lokah Chapter 2 comes after the first film, led by Kalyani Priyadarshan as India’s first female superhero, shattered box office records. Lokah Chapter 1 earned around ₹142.90 crore in India and is on its way to hitting ₹300 crore worldwide, becoming a massive triumph for the Malayalam film industry.
Dulquer Salmaan, who is also the producer under his banner Wayfarer Films, has been clear that the franchise is meant for the big screen. He recently shut down rumours about an OTT release for the first film, asking fans to only trust official news. With four more titles already in development, Wayfarer Films is building a full-fledged cinematic universe.
