The Raja Saab Box Office Collection Day 3: Prabhas Starrer Bleeds On Sunday With Rs 20.50 Crore, Worldwide Weekend Stands At Rs 144.50 Crore As Film Struggles To Hold

Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab witnessed another major fall in business on Sunday, with collections plummeting to Rs 20.50 crore at the Indian box office. The Maruthi directed fantasy horror film wrapped its three day opening weekend at just Rs 114 crore in India after bringing in Rs 66 crore on its first day. The film’s worldwide weekend total stands at Rs 144.50 crore, finishing under Rs 150 crore.

The film experienced an even worse slowdown overseas, where it could only manage USD 225K on Sunday, less than 10 percent of its opening day. The overseas weekend amounted to just USD 3.40 million, which translates to Rs 30.50 crore.

The Raja Saab Struggles Across All Territories

The film has underwhelmed across the board, whether in the Telugu states or elsewhere. Coastal Andhra has held somewhat better with holiday support kicking in, but other places bled over the weekend. Nizam, which had a relatively better first day showing, crashed with a 42 percent drop from Saturday. The Hindi version, which generally holds well for big Telugu films, dropped each day of the weekend.

The territorial breakdown shows AP/TS contributed Rs 81.75 crore to the weekend total, with Nizam alone bringing in Rs 35.50 crore. Karnataka added Rs 12 crore, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala combined contributed just Rs 2.50 crore. Rest of India territories brought in Rs 17.75 crore.

Sankranti Holidays Offer Small Hope For Recovery

Off this trend, Rs 200 crore would be an impossible task if not for the Sankranti holidays. The film may still come under that mark, but Sankranti gives it a chance as the Telugu states will get some collections during the week long stretch. The holiday period could provide some relief, though the film’s fate has been sealed by a subpar opening followed by an abysmal trend.

The Raja Saab has huge costs involved, north of Rs 400 crore, and the recovery is highly dependent on theatrical performance. With non theatrical revenue streams going down, the film faces an uphill battle to recover its investment despite having a highly lucrative holiday period at its disposal in the coming days.

Overseas Markets Show Sharp Decline

The overseas performance has been particularly disappointing. The United States contributed USD 2.05 million to the weekend total, while Canada added USD 150K. Australia and New Zealand combined for USD 300K, the Middle East brought in USD 325K, and the United Kingdom contributed USD 350K. Rest of World territories added USD 225K to bring the total overseas weekend to USD 3.40 million.
