The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 have prompted changes in the release dates of several films. One such film, Kalki 2898 AD, boasting a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and Amitabh Bachchan, originally slated for May 9, now anticipates a release towards the end of May or in June.
This adjustment is attributed to the elections scheduled on May 13 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the home states of the lead actors. Similarly, Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff, which was due for release on May 31, has also opted to change its release date. Additionally, The Sabarmati Report has been postponed, adding to the shuffle caused by the electoral event.
The Sabarmati Report To Postpone Due To THIS Reason
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the producers submitted their film for certification to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the Examining Committee raised objections to specific scenes in the movie. Additionally, some concerns about releasing the film before the final phase of elections on June 1 could potentially breach the guidelines outlined by the Election Commission of India.
Another insider mentioned that the CBFC expressed concerns about certain scenes in the film that could offend a portion of the audience. As a result, the film’s team is considering reshooting those particular sequences.
With The Sabarmati Report delayed, there isn’t any significant Hindi film scheduled for May 3. May appears to be a quiet month for releases, with most films not expected to be big money-makers unless they exceed expectations. The next notable release is Mr And Mrs Mahi, starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, set for May 31.
