Firoz Nadiadwala Revives Uday-Majnu Duo With Tiger Shroff Led Zombie Comedy

Bollywood’s most gloriously unhinged gangster duo may be heading into a zombie outbreak next. Firoz Nadiadwala is mounting a kids-friendly zombie comedy with Tiger Shroff, and Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar have been approached to bring back the irreverent spark that made Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai such beloved comic fixtures.

Zombie Comedy Brings Back The Uday-Majnu Recall

What makes the project instantly intriguing is that it is not being positioned as a routine extension of the Welcome universe. Instead, the film is being imagined as a fresh family entertainer with a zombie-comedy hook, using the Kapoor-Patekar pairing as a high-value recall device while giving Tiger Shroff a very different playground from the action-heavy lane he usually occupies.

That combination is where the commercial appeal sharpens. Shroff brings youth-facing action credibility and physical flair, while Kapoor and Patekar bring a comic shorthand that audiences already understand and enjoy. Rather than leaning only on nostalgia, the film’s promise lies in mixing generational star power with a genre that can play equally well for children and mass-market audiences.

At this stage, the project remains in development, but even that early casting thought makes it stand out. A zombie comedy is already an unusual space for a mainstream Hindi film, and placing it on the shoulders of a younger action star alongside two veteran performers known for explosive comic chemistry gives the package a distinct identity.

Why This Reunion Has Instant Recall Value

Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar first played Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty in Welcome in 2007 and returned to those roles in Welcome Back in 2015, creating one of Hindi cinema’s most fondly remembered comic pairings. Their chemistry was built on chaos, rhythm and relentless one-upmanship, which is why the idea of seeing that energy repurposed in a zombie-comedy setup carries immediate appeal.

That larger creative impulse has surfaced before in Nadiadwala’s thinking around his popular character pool. Speaking earlier about the possibility of another major franchise blend, he had said, “Welcome-Hera Pheri CROSSOVER film will be made and that too in a big way. The goings-on in the narrative will be justified, with common sense and logic in place.” The line is not about this Tiger Shroff film, but it does underline his clear interest in reactivating fan-favourite personalities inside new commercial formats.

From there, the proposed zombie comedy begins to look less like a gimmick and more like a calculated attempt to refresh familiar audience affection with a new genre engine.

Tiger Shroff’s Recent And Upcoming Work

The timing is notable for Tiger Shroff as well. After Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and his appearance in Singham Again in 2024, his screen image has remained firmly rooted in large-scale action and franchise-driven spectacle. A children-friendly zombie comedy gives him room to pivot without abandoning the athletic, high-energy persona that defines his appeal. It is a move that could widen his audience while still keeping him in a decidedly commercial zone. He finished shooting for an action film produced by Murad Khetani opposite Suneil Shetty, Mahima Makwana and now shooting for Remo D Souza film opposite Nushrat and Pashmina Roshan.

For Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, the film also arrives at an interesting point. Kapoor has continued to maintain a visible mainstream presence, while Nana Patekar’s recent appearances have kept him in circulation with audiences who still strongly associate him with towering, eccentric characters. Put together, the trio offers a useful blend of nostalgia, action currency and senior-star personality. If the casting clicks, Nadiadwala may have found a smart way to build a broad entertainer that feels both familiar and freshly mounted.
