In his latest venture into suspense, filmmaker M Night Shyamalan is bringing a unique twist to cinema with his upcoming thriller, Trap. The film promises audiences an immersive experience that blends suspense with a real-life concert setting.

Shyamalan Promises Concert Experience In Trap

Shyamalan, renowned for his masterful storytelling in films like The Sixth Sense and The Village, shared insights in an interview with Empire. He highlighted the film’s unique narrative premise: “What if ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ happened at a Taylor Swift concert?” This intriguing blend of thriller and concert experience sets the stage for a cinematic journey unlike any other.

Adding a personal touch to the project, Shyamalan cast his daughter Saleka as pop sensation Lady Raven in the movie, underscoring his commitment to authenticity and creativity. “I directed an entire concert! And it wasn’t just a backdrop,” Shyamalan remarked. “There’s literally a real concert that you can experience uniquely in this film.”

Emphasising his dedication to original storytelling, Shyamalan expressed his desire for the industry to move beyond safe bets in intellectual properties (IPs). “I want audiences to see something they’ve never seen before,” he explained to Empire. “It’s crucial for cinema to offer fresh, innovative experiences.”

About The Film

Inspired by a real 1985 sting operation orchestrated by U.S. Marshals and DC Metro Police, where fugitives were lured to an NFL match with free tickets, Trap pivots around Josh Hartnett’s portrayal of a serial killer entangled in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game at a pop concert, accompanied by his teenage daughter.

Trap promises not just a gripping thriller but also a visual and auditory feast, with Shyamalan’s vision of cinema as windows within windows coming to life.
